Research and Development Grants for Comprehensive Research for Persons with Disabilities In the fields of a) physical and intellectual disabilities, b) disabilities of the sensory organs, c) mental disorder, and d) neuromuscular diseases, we will promote research and development in order to provide appropriate support.
Practical Research Project for Life-Style related Diseases including Cardiovascular Diseases and Diabetes Mellitus This program promotes the entire process of R&D toward prevention of the onset and aggravation of lifestyle-related diseases from basic research to the practical application of research findings in collaboration with other programs.
Practical Research Project for Renal Diseases The purpose of this program is to improve the measures to control chronic kidney disease (CKD) in Japan.
Practical Research Project for Allergic Diseases and Immunology (Research on Allergic Diseases and Immunology) This project supports researchers and scientists of the research and development (R&D) for allergic and/or immunological diseases
Practical Research Project for Allergic Diseases and Immunology (Research on Technology of Medical Transplantation) This program aims at ensuring the government and those concerned steadily promote the initiatives specified in the relevant laws, including effective and safe organ transplantation that respects the donors' intentions as much as possible and dissemination of research findings regarding state-supported research on hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
Research Project on Elucidation of Chronic Pain Objectives are to provide appropriate pain control for patients, to promote understanding of appropriate pain control, and to reduce pain for improvement of  Q0L of patients.
Research Program on HIV/AIDS This program aims to employ the following strategies: Development of new vaccines and antiretrovirals (ARVs) for HIV infection, Elucidating the infection mechanisms of HIV resulting in new treatment strategies, Elucidating HIV-associated pathogenesis and development of treatments for the conditions.
Research Program on Hepatitis This program aims to significantly improve the treatment of hepatitis by comprehensively promoting basic and clinical research on hepatitis in partnership with national and local government
Advanced Research & Development Programs for Medical Innovation (AMED-CREST, PRIME, LEAP) This project develops time-limited research frameworks across organizational boundaries and promotes cutting-edge research and development designed to create and incubate revolutionary breakthroughs.
Project for Baby and Infant in Research of healTH and Development to Adolescent and Young adult - BIRTHDAY The objective of this program is to ensure child health and development and to strengthen the sustainable infrastructure surrounding the child development.
Project for Whole Implementation to Support and Ensure the Female Life - WISE This program promotes comprehensive implementation to support and ensure the female life by basic, clinical, and translational research.
Acceleration Transformative Research for Medical Innovation This program supports challenging R&D that aims to place the seeds of technical developments originating from academia in the practical application process and create innovation in the medical field in cooperation with universities, companies, and hospitals.
Medical Research and Development Programs Focused on Technology Transfer: Adaptable and Seamless Technology Transfer Program through Target-Driven Research and Development (AMED・A-STEP) This program was transferred from JST to AMED in April 2015, and after that AMED has not received any applications to this program. This program has evolved and is integrated into the ACT-M scheme.
International Collaborative Research Program: Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development (SATREPS) The SATREPS program is a Japanese government program that promotes international joint research.
International Collaborative Research Program: Strategic International Collaborative Research Program (SICORP) The aim of this program is to contribute solutions to challenges facing world today and to bolster Japan’s scientific and technological capabilities through collaboration with a broad range of countries.
International Collaborative Research Program: The e-ASIA Joint Research Program (e-ASIA JRP) The e-ASIA Joint Research Program (hereinafter referred to as the “e-ASIA JRP”) aims to develop a vibrant and collaborative research community in Science and Technology, to promote innovation in the East Asian region, and to contribute to the region’s economic development.
International Collaborative Research Program for Tackling the NTDs (Neglected Tropical Diseases) Challenges in African countries This program will be implemented at universities and other research institutes both in Japan and African countries to achieve the goal of controlling NTDs (Neglected Tropical Diseases).
U.S. - Japan Cooperative Medical Sciences Program: USJCMSP(Research on Global Health Issues) The U.S.-Japan Cooperative Medical Sciences Program (USJCMSP), one of the oldest bilateral programs in the history of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) of United States, was established in 1965. The program continues to maintain its value as a unique tool to foster research collaboration among the US, Japan and the Asia-Pacific Region
Research Program on the challenges of Global Health issues This program promotes research related to global-scale public health issues in areas including identifying disease etiologies, investigating methods of prevention, and standardizing methods of disease diagnosis and treatment.
National BioResource Project (NBRP) The National BioResource Project is developing a framework for the systematic collection, preservation, and provision of bioresources.
Research Project for Improving Quality in Healthcare and Collecting Scientific Evidence on Integrative Medicine This program is conducted to collect scientific evidence regarding the safety and efficacy of integrative medicine.
ICT infrastructure establishment and implementation of artificial intelligence for clinical and medical research This program promotes the development of the ICT infrastructure of clinical research, primarily by institutions with advanced ICT-related technology to provide the evidence necessary to improve the quality of medical care in Japan.
Personal Health Record (PHR) Utilization Project This program is to organize evaluation indicators for clinical research by utilizing the data in Diagnosis Procedure Combination (DPC) and the National Database (NDB).
Research and Development Program for Enhancement of Research Integrity The objective of this program is to prevent research misconduct and to enhance research integrity at research institutions by calling for two kinds of proposals—one for creating educational materials and the other for research on strengthening research integrity—and proliferating the outcomes among other research institutions.
