In the health and medical care where artificial intelligence (AI) is considered useful, it is necessary to develop systems in collaboration with other industries including IT companies and academia so that researchers can collect and analyze enormous amounts of data in the fields, and realize individually optimal health management and medical care. The governmental AI Strategy 2019 includes the development of technology for early detection and diagnosis of diseases using AI.

The introduction of AI should enable the establishment of objective evaluation index as well as early diagnosis and early intervention, especially for psychiatric disorders and neuromuscular diseases whose objective evaluation index remains insufficient.

This project aims to promote the creation of evidence on early diagnosis of these diseases, and will support the research and development of medical device AI programs for early diagnosis. In the project, test data (medical images, blood, brain waves, etc.) in the fields of individual health and medical care as well as digital phenotyping data (speech, facial expression, movement, center of gravity, position information, etc.) will be utilized and analyzed in combination with physical findings.
