The Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) is pleased to announce a call for proposals for FY 2026 e-ASIA Joint Research Program (e-ASIA JRP) in the fields of “Health Research“ as shown below.

Program summary

The e-ASIA Joint Research Program (hereinafter referred to as the “e-ASIA JRP”) aims to develop a vibrant and collaborative research community in Science and Technology, to promote innovation in ASEAN region, and to contribute to the region’s economic development.
The Member Organizations participating in this call under the “Health Research Area (Infectious Disease and Immunology)” are as follows.

Participating Member Organizations (listed in alphabetical order):

  1. Australia: National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC)
  2. China: National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC)
  3. Indonesia: National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN)
  4. Japan: Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED)
  5. United States of America: National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)

* The joint research team must consist of researchers from at least three participating countries. Please refer to the “Call Guidelines” for the specific requirements of this call, including any designated countries that must be included.

Aim of Joint Call and Research Area

The aim of the joint call is not only to contribute to the development of regional science but also to overcome public health and medical problems in ASEAN countries through multilateral collaboration. The e-ASIA JRP 15th Call in the field of Health Research is to invite applications that will address the health impacts in Southeast Asian countries specifically focus on Infectious Disease and Immunology research area.

How to Apply

In addition to the procedures required by the e-ASIA JRP Secretariat, each Member Organization has its own application requirements.
All Principal Investigators (PIs) from Japan and partner countries forming the joint research consortium must complete the application procedures specified by their respective Member Organizations within the designated deadline.

Failure to complete any of these procedures will render the application ineligible. Furthermore, applications may also be rejected if the documents submitted to the Member Organizations are incomplete or contain errors.
Details of the required procedures and rules for each Member Organization are provided in the National Annex of the “Call Guidelines”.
For rules and procedures applicable to Japan-based applicants, please refer to the National Annex in the “Call Guidelines” and the “Application Guideline for Japan-based applicants”

If the Japan-based applicant serves as the Lead PI (Principal Investigator) of the joint research consortium, both (1) and (2) listed below are required.
If the Japan-based applicant is not the Lead PI, only (2) is required.

  • “Application Form 1J2J” (application form for Japan-based applicants)
