The key points of announcement are as follows:

  • On February 5, the Keio University Certified Committee for Regenerative Medicine concluded that the initial proposal of study entitled “Safety of the allogenic transplant of iPS-derived cardiac myocytes in patients with refractory severe heart failure” met all the criteria for the regulatory requirements for regenerative medicine. The study will be led by Professor Keiichi Fukuda of the Department of Internal Medicine (Cardiology), Keio University School of Medicine.
  • Based on the Act on Securing Safety of Regenerative Medicine and its enforcement regulations, the study team is planning to submit the study protocol to the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare in order to start the clinical trial aimed at developing novel treatment strategies.

The study is conducted with the support of Research Project for Practical Applications of Regenerative Medicine, by AMED.
