A signing ceremony will be held on February 1, 2017 (UK local time) in the United Kingdom.

The MRC is a leading biology/medicine-focused funding agency in the United Kingdom and in the world. Cooperation between the two agencies is expected to accelerate collaborative research in biological and medical field both in Japan and the United Kingdom.

Based on the MOC, it is planned to conduct cooperative research projects, joint seminars and symposia, and exchange of personnel and researchers. Collaborative initiatives are presumed to initially start in the areas of regenerative medicine, dementia, drug resistance, and infectious diseases. A workshop will also be held to discuss collaborative areas in further detail.
