On March 27, 2024, a delegation led by Arūnas Dulkys, the Minister of Health of the Republic of Lithuania, visited the AMED headquarters and paid a courtesy visit to President Mishima. AMED and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Lithuania signed a memorandum of cooperation in 2017, and have been supporting international joint research in the "Strategic International Collaborative Research Program (SICORP) Japan-Lithuania Joint Research" (basic research using health and medical information and bioresources for rare and undiagnosed diseases, cancer). Experts from universities and hospitals, including those participating in the same SICORP, accompanied the visit, and an exchange of opinions was held, including an introduction to Japan-Lithuania research collaboration.
