The Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) is pleased to announce a call for proposals for FY 2025 e-ASIA Joint Research Program (e-ASIA JRP) in the fields of “Health Research“ as shown below.

Program summary

The e-ASIA Joint Research Program (hereinafter referred to as the “e-ASIA JRP”) aims to develop a vibrant and collaborative research community in Science and Technology, to promote innovation in ASEAN region, and to contribute to the region’s economic development. As part of the program, the following Member Organizations of the e-ASIA JRP have agreed to implement a joint call for proposals of multilateral cooperative research activities.

  8. Thailand : Program Management Unit for Human Resources & Institutional Development, Research and Innovation (PMU-B)
  9. United States of America: National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)
  10. Vietnam: Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST)

Aim of Joint Call and Research Area

The aim of the joint call is not only to contribute to the development of regional science but also to overcome public health and medical problems in ASEAN countries through multilateral collaboration. The e-ASIA JRP 14th Call in the field of Health Research is to invite applications that will address the health impacts in Southeast Asian countries specifically focus on Infectious Diseases and Immunology (including Antimicrobial Resistance) research area.

Lead PI must submit Proposals by e-mail to the e-ASIA JRP Secretariat by 17:00 (Thai Standard Time, UTC+7) on 31st March 2025.(Solicitation period has ended.)

Japan-based applicants must also submit a project title, a summary of the project, and detailed budget information in Japanese with the application forms (Form 1J2J) through the online application system, “e-Rad”, by 17:00 (Japanese Standard Time, UTC+9) on 31st March 2025.(Solicitation period has ended.)

Interview Schedule

Date: 14th August, 2025
Venue: Online

In the case that an interview (hearing review) is conducted, the Japan-based Principal Investigator (PI) for the relevant project will, in principle, be notified by e-mail at least one week prior to the scheduled hearing.
In the case that the project is not eligible for a hearing review or hearing reviews are not being conducted, the Japan-based PI will not be contacted. Please wait until you receive the notification of acceptance or rejection.
Please note that we will not respond to inquiries regarding the eligibility of individual projects for hearing reviews.
In the case that there are any changes to the implementation or schedule of hearing reviews, they will be posted on this page. Please check here for updates.
In principle, the Japan-based PI must attend the hearing review. The date and time of the hearing review cannot be changed.
Inquiries arising during the document review process may be sent via email to the Japan-based PI of the project subject to a hearing. Please respond promptly to these inquiries by the deadline and in the manner specified by AMED at the time of the inquiry.
Individuals subject to the hearing are expected to participate online.
