The NHMRC is the Australian Government’s lead funding agency for health and medical research. Japan will benefit from Australia’s research experience in cancer, refractory disease, regenerative medicine, precision medicine based on genetic data and clinical trials. NHMRC and AMED are also working together through multilateral international research programs that address infectious, rare and chronic disease. Signing of the MoC will further strengthen collaboration between two agencies and pave the way for joint scientific events. The first of these, a workshop to promote on cancer and infectious disease, will be held during March 2019, and there is scope to promote further collaboration through joint research, researcher exchange and joint seminars and symposiums.
