News Releases & Research Results Commercialization of single-cell RNA sequencing kits ―Contributes to the promotion of genomic medicine―
News Releases & Research Results
Outline
Results of research and development by a research team of Technical Scientist Tetsutaro Hayashi, Team Leader Itoshi Nikaido, and others of the Laboratory for Bioinformatics Research, RIKEN Center for Biosystems Dynamics Research.
Key points of the R&D results
- "A full-length total RNA sequencing of single cells (RamDA-seqTM)" was developed, which can overcome some challenges associated with the conventional genetic analysis methods (e.g., full-length sequencing is not possible, mutations that cause diseases cannot be determined completely).
- This method has made it possible to detect the full length, etc. of RNA, enabling measurements of genes and mutations, unlike existing methods.
- This is expected to contribute to genomic diagnostics including all genes for cancers in which mutations in gene sequences occur.
- By licensing out to Toyobo Co., Ltd., "GenNext® RamDA-seqTM Single Cell Kit" and "RT-RamDATM cDNA synthesis Kit" have been commercialized.
This research and development was conducted with the support of Platform Project for Supporting Drug Discovery and Life Science Research by AMED.
