Topics Japan-Nordic Collaboration: Launch of the call for proposals for the joint research between AMED and the Nordic partners under the Strategic International Collaborative Research Program (SICORP)

Topics

The Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED, President MISHIMA Yoshinao) has launched the joint call for proposals on Japan-Nordic Frontier Research Projects for Healthy Longevity with the Nordic partners; NordForsk (Director Arne Flåøyen), the Academy of Finland (President Heikki Mannila), the Research Council of Norway (Chief Executive Mari Sundli Tveit), and the Swedish Research Council (Director General Sven Stafström) under the Strategic International Collaborative Research Program (SICORP). The deadline of the call is 7 October 2021 (Call for proposals).

NordForsk is an organisation under the Nordic Council of Ministers that provides funding for and facilitates Nordic cooperation on research and research infrastructure, and Finland, Norway and Sweden participate in the joint call among the Nordic countries involved in the Nordic cooperation. AMED signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) for the joint call with NordForsk, the Academy of Finland, the Research Council of Norway, and the Swedish Research Council (Effective date: 23 June 2021).

Japan-Nordic Collaboration

The thematic framework of the call includes fundamental, translational/basic clinical and epidemiological research on populations in the Nordic countries and Japan. Utilisation of existing high-quality health data sources in a Nordic-Japanese context is central to the research to be funded under this call, and we welcome proposals with an innovative approach to contribute to the development of precision medicine for healthy longevity.
