The Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) is pleased to launch the Japan-Lithuania Joint Call for Proposals in the field of "basic research with the use of clinical data and bioresources in rare and undiagnosed diseases, and cancer" on SICORP in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Lithuania. This is the first joint funding program after Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between AMED and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Lithuania on March 9, 2017.

We welcome joint research proposals that aim in particular at validation or development of systems/tools for sharing or analysis of health data and/or omics data.

Program summary

SICORP provides support for international joint research projects on the basis of equal partnership in countries,regions,and fields of cooperation that have been designated as particularly important by the Ministry of Education,Culture,Sports,Science and Technology (MEXT) on the basis of intergovernmental agreements,in collaboration with funding agencies in the countries concerned.

The aim of this program is to contribute solutions to challenges facing world today and to bolster Japan’s scientific and technological capabilities through collaboration with a broad range of countries.
This program, with a view to disseminating excellent research results of our country to the world, expects to achieve synergies and develop mutually by collaborating with foreign countries and regions in science and technology that can be a source of our competitiveness.

Japan-based applicants

Please refer to the Application Guidelines (section II. ELIGIBILITY) and the Supplemental Guidelines for Japan-based applicants "補足応募注意事項" (section 2, page 6).

To promote exchange or collaboration of early career researchers, applications by early career researchers or established researchers who wish to encourage career development of early career researchers are expected.

How to Apply

Japan-based applicants and Lithuania-based applicants are required to jointly develop a single application form “Joint Case for Support” and the Japan-based applicants will submit via e-Rad system by 17:00 (Japan Standard Time) on 15 June 2021. Late submission will not be accepted.

Japan-based applicants are required to develop additional forms, the “Additional Application Form”and the “Check list of export control”, and to submit all documents via e-Rad as a set of proposals. A copy of the confirmation letter of Lithuanian partner’s eligibility issued by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Lithuania is also necessary to be attached to the proposals.
