Overview

B-Cure : Biobank-Construction and Utilization biobank for genomic medicine Realization

  • Based on the Strategy for Health and Medical Care (approved by the Cabinet in March 2020), this project aims to maintain, develop, and connect Japan's biobanks, and conduct research and development to promote the identification of disease-related genes in the Japanese population, the prediction of the risk of developing multifactorial diseases, and the realization of personalized prevention.
  • Moreover, this project accelerates the enhancement of the cross-biobank search system and collaboration among the three major biobanks (such as TMM, BBJ and NCBN) and other cohort of domestic biobanks.
*TMM: Tohoku Medical Megabank, BBJ: BioBank Japan, NCBN: National Center Biobank Network

B-Cure programs

This project consists of the four programs below.

Platform Program for Promotion of Genome Medicine

  • This program with the four sub-programs below aims to rearrange the domestic biobanks so that the biobank infrastructures play a central role in promoting cutting-edge research and realizing genomic medicine.

Subprograms

  • Advanced Genome Research and Bioinformatics Study to Facilitate Medical Innovation (GRIFIN)
  • Genomic Medicine R&D Platform Utilization System
  • Infrastructure development for large-scale analysis utilizing Genome, and Health and Clinical Data
