Life-long treatment is required to control HIV infection, because it is incurable; therefore, the selection of drug-resistant viruses is still a major issue. Controlling comorbidities associated with HIV infection is also challenging. To overcome these issues, this program aims to employ the following strategies:

  1. Development of new vaccines and antiretrovirals (ARVs) for HIV infection;
  2. Elucidating the infection mechanisms of HIV resulting in new treatment strategies;
  3. Elucidating HIV-associated pathogenesis and development of treatments for the conditions.
