概要
- 高い科学技術水準を有する欧米等先進国を対象として、政府主導で設定する先端分野における研究開発成果創出を目的とする大型国際共同研究に十分な予算を担保。
- 両国のファンディングエージェンシーが協働しつつ、課題単価や支援時期等を柔軟に設定することで、より戦略的・機動的に国際共同研究を支援できるよう基金を造成。
- 上記の国際共同研究を通じ、国際科学トップサークルへの日本人研究者の参入を促進するとともに、両国の優秀な若手研究者の交流・コネクションの強化も図ることで国際頭脳循環を推進し、長期的な連携ネットワークの構築に貢献。
- 本事業における課題の公募・審査・採択・支援等は国立研究開発法人日本医療研究開発機構（AMED）と国立研究開発法人科学技術振興機構（JST）で実施し、AMEDは「健康・医療」分野を担当。
